Simply Stunning
Black and White Photos
A photo book like no other!
Who am I?
![]() |
I am the author of more than 20 nonfiction books.
I am also a photographer. As a fine art photographer my portfolio contains nearly 700 fine art photos. Yes, I also do color photos, however this book is an homage to black and white photography and my early years of taking pictures. In photography, before there was color, there was black and white. Before there was digital photography, and computers, there was film.
As a photographic artist, my creative
photo editing process involves applying nearly 20 different steps. These are
applied to every photo I take. Before I get a final result. It takes time. And
creativity. For every photo, the steps involve taking the picture, then editing
it.
Taking a fine art photograph requires having what is
known as a good eye. As I mentioned, mine was developed over decades of doing
photography. Editing involves skill and creativity. The nearly 20 editing steps
that I apply to every photo involve composition, clarity, contrast, color (if
doing a color photo), light, texture, size, resolution, and other elements.
And I never know in advance how a photo I take is
going to turn out after editing; whether it will be a no-go destined for the recycle
bin, a good photo, or an artistic masterpiece. After all that, depending on how
a photo turns out, I then deal with artistic disappointment, satisfaction, or
elation.
This, involving desire, talent, skill, and magic, is my art.
This book is not a textbook. It is not
designed to teach black & white photography or provide tips. There are
plenty of good books about how to do photography, plenty of courses, plenty of
youtube videos, plenty of internet sources.
This Collector’s Edition book is for the enjoyment of the art of black
and white photography and the black & white photographs therein.
Here's a few examples of the photos in the book
